16 *    The GEANT-FLUKA interface                                         *
17 *                                                                      *
18 *    Since version  3.15, GEANT  includes an interface  with some      *
19 *    FLUKA [1,2,3,4,5] routines. This  part has been  updated and      *
20 *    extended in subsequent releases.                                  *
21 *                                                                      *
22 *    FLUKA is  a standalone code with  its own life.  Only  a few      *
23 *    parts have been included into GEANT, namely the ones dealing      *
24 *    with hadronic elastic and inelastic interactions.                 *
25 *                                                                      *
26 *    The  implementation  of FLUKA  routines  in  GEANT does  not      *
27 *    include  any change,  apart  from interface  ones and  those      *
28 *    agreed by the FLUKA authors.  Whenever different options are      *
29 *    available in  FLUKA, the one  suggested by the  authors have      *
30 *    been retained.  Nevertheless the results obtained with FLUKA      *
31 *    routines  inside GEANT  could not  be representative  of the      *
32 *    full  FLUKA performances,  since  they  generally depend  on      *
33 *    other parts which are GEANT specific.                             *
34 *                                                                      *
35 *    The routines made available  for GEANT have been extensively      *
36 *    tested  and  are reasonably  robust.   They  usually do  not      *
37 *    represent the latest FLUKA developments, since the policy is      *
38 *    to supply  for GEANT  well tested  and reliable  code rather      *
39 *    than very  recent developments with possibly  better physics      *
40 *    but also still undetected errors.                                 *
41 *                                                                      *
42 *    It is important that GEANT users are aware of the conditions      *
43 *    at which this code has been kindly made available:                *
44 *                                                                      *
45 *     o  relevant   authorship   and   references   about   FLUKA      *
46 *        [1,2,3,4,5]   should  be   clearly   indicated  in   any      *
47 *        publication reporting results obtained with this code;        *
48 *                                                                      *
49 *     o  the FLUKA authors reserve  the right of publishing about      *
50 *        the  physical  models  they  developed  and  implemented      *
51 *        inside FLUKA,  GEANT users  are not supposed  to extract      *
52 *        from  the  GEANT  -  FLUKA code  the  relevant  routines      *
53 *        running them standalone for benchmarks;                       *

55 *     o  more generally,  FLUKA routines  contained in  the GEANF      *
56 *        file are  supposed to  be included  and used  with GEANT      *
57 *        only:  any other  use must  be authorised  by the  FLUKA      *
58 *        authors.                                                      *
