  28 document is to give a  concise description of the ITS software. For
  29 more general information the reader is referred to the ALICE <A HREF="http://aliceinfo.cern.ch/Offline/AliRoot/Manual.html">offline
  30 documentation</A>.</P>
  31 <P STYLE="margin-bottom: 0cm">The reader is assumed to have a basic
  32 knowledge of AliRoot and of the Inner Tracking System Detector.</P>
  33 <P STYLE="margin-bottom: 0cm">The documentation is organized in the
  34 following sections:</P>

  36         <LI><P STYLE="margin-bottom: 0cm"><B>SPD. </B><SPAN STYLE="font-weight: medium">This
  37         section</SPAN><B> </B>gives information on SPD simulation, local
  38         reconstruction, calibration and specific run types.  <FONT COLOR="#dc2300">To

  40         <LI><P STYLE="margin-bottom: 0cm"><B><A HREF="doc_sdd.html">SDD</A>.</B>

  42         <LI><P STYLE="margin-bottom: 0cm"><B>SSD.</B> As above. <FONT COLOR="#dc2300">To

  44         <LI><P STYLE="margin-bottom: 0cm"><B><A HREF="doc_itsgeo.html">Geometry</A>.</B> In this section a
  45         short description of  the implementation of the ITS geometry used
  46         for simulation and reconstruction is given.</P>
  47         <LI><P STYLE="margin-bottom: 0cm"><B>ITS tracking.</B> This section
  48         provides information on the trackers used to prolong track
  49         candidates from the TPC (AliITStrackerMI class) and to find and fit
  50         tracks with the ITS alone (AliITStrackerSA). Information on cosmic
  51         muon reconstruction is also provided. <FONT COLOR="#dc2300">To be

  54         <LI><P STYLE="margin-bottom: 0cm"><B>Primary vertex measurement.</B>
  55          This section describes the vertexers (AliITSVertexerZ and
  56         AliITSVertexer3D) used to provide a first estimete on the postition
  57         of the primary vertex position based on the local reconstruction of
