3 \section{Coordinate Systems}
5 The ALICE coordinate system is defined as, Z along the beam counter clock wise
6 direction, X towards the center of the LHC, and Y set so that it is a right
7 handed coordinate system (up). This is illustrated in
8 Figure~\ref{ITSMan:ch2:ALICEcoordinateSystem1}. The $[0,0,0]$ of this
9 coordinate system is defined to be the center of the expected interaction
10 diamond. This is the point about which all of the ALICE detectors will be
11 built. In figure~\ref{ITSMan:ch2:ALICEcoordianteSystem2} is shown this same
12 coordinate system on the scale of the ALICE detector.
